Summer may be coming to an end soon but that doesn’t mean it’s over just yet! As much as I love the summer weather, my oily skin likes to remind me of how much it’s annoyed by the heat. Skincare is something I love to talk about and any product that is geared toward oily skin I’ll find a way to try it out.
A couple of months ago when I ran out of the moisturizer I was using at the time I drove over to Sephora with the intention of buying my old favorite the Clinique Dramatically Different Gel. Conveniently, one of the Sephora associates approached me with their usual spiel and this time I wanted to try a new moisturizer that was different from what I’ve used before, you know to be spontaneous.
It was that moment when I was introduced to the Laneige brand. Which let me tell you is A WHOLE NEW WORLD.
I haven’t heard of them before that day but I’m forever grateful to the sales associate that brought this product to my attention. So, without further adieu here my 8 lists of reasons why I love the Laneige Water Bank Hydrating Gel Moisturizer and why you need to add it to your beauty routine ASAP.
1. Smells Amazing
When is this not a bad thing. I apply this moisturizer twice a day and literally can not wait to put it all over my face just so I can smell it. I’m not sure what to compare the smell to but it is a light and fairly delicate scent that you’ll barely notice after wearing it for an hour. This hands down is my favorite part about this moisturizer 🙂 .
2. Perfect for Oily Skin
As someone who struggles with it daily, I can tell you this is my absolute favorite product I’ve ever tried (next to the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream) and I’m definitely going to repurchase. It’s lightweight on the skin while also providing a layer of moisture for your all day natural glow especially during the heat of the summer. You Glow Girl 😉 !
3. Gives the Perfect Amount of Moisture
My skin drinks it all up but without drying out my skin. That was my only issue about the Origins Ginzing moisturizer that I didn’t like. I felt like it wasn’t enough moisture for my skin and that I need to apply more (Read the next list to find out why).
4. Great for Those Living in Warm and Dry Climates
Now that I’m living in a dryer climate compared to Florida, I still need a light moisturizer for the summer but is also thick enough to maintain the perfect moisture barrier on my skin through the hot summer afternoons. Laneige does just that while smelling amazing. I mean, Come On!
5. It’s Allure 2016 Best Beauty Award Winner
I guess some people already knew it was awesome before I did… shocker. I’m always behind on trends lol. But, all the more reasons to try it out!
6. Comes with a Spatula
I haven’t had a moisturizer that ever came with a spatula and I’m glad this one did. I didn’t know how much I actually love having it until using it daily. Having the spatula allows you to get the appropriate amount every time without wasting product and it also keeps your moisturizer from being contaminated with other germs and bacteria.
7. It’s Water Based aka No Oils
The science behind this is our bodies are made up of about 60% of water so why not use a product on your skin that is made up of mostly water to replenish the skin. That doesn’t mean that this moisturizer is runny, it’s actually quite thick but light on the skin.
8. Korean Beauty Inspired
Korea is one of the beauty capital of the world so of course their moisturizer would be the most magical product on the planet. I mean, who needs unicorns and mermaids anyway.
Also, try the Laneige Lip Sleeping mask too! The thick formula is great for those that struggle with chapped lips especially during the winter. Just apply a thin amount before you sleep and when you wake you’ll have kissable lips that are totally irresistible 😉 .
I’ve been using this moisturizer for about a month now and I still can’t get over how amazing this stuff is. Having oily skin is a real struggle! But, this stuff makes it not so bad even if you might spend a little extra money.
Also, Laneige is not just geared toward oily skin, they have created a variety of products to suit your skin type on their website! Let me know if you’ve tried the Laneige Brand and your thoughts about them.
Check out the post for my summer skincare routine to see how I tame the oils and how I do my everyday makeup. But until next time, I love you all and I’ll see you soon.

What’s your favorite facial moisturizer for the summer?
P.S.   A great dupe for this moisturizer is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel. The only difference I’ve noticed is the scent, other than that, the texture, consistency, and the application are almost identical. If you don’t want to spend the extra money on Laneige just yet, I would try the Neutrogena first to get a feel of everything.
