5 Things You Need To Stay Sick-Free This Winter

It’s that time of year when almost everyone around me is getting sick. I just want to carry a belt of Lysol Disinfecting Spray at all times so I can spray the next person that coughs at me in their face.

This actually sounds like a pretty good plan.

So for the past month or so I’ve been surround by sick people. I️ don’t work in a hospital I work in retail which by the way I feel is way worse than the hospital!

Ya feel?

So I came home from work one day feeling awful and I thought to myself  ” No Dom you’re not going to be sick today, that’s just not allowed”.  I spent all of that night and the next day recuperating so I wouldn’t spend a whole week in bed.

Don’t get me wrong I love laying in bed for a few days watching movies and taking my time getting ready for the day. But it’s the worst to me staying in bed for more than three days and not able to do anything.

I just feel that when I’m sick it takes too much of my energy and time away from doing normal everyday things … like eating and breathing.

That night after work we went to the store all bundle up with a list in hand of all the things I need to conquer this cold. On the list was five most important things minus one -the tea. I already had the tea buuuut it doesn’t hurt to have extra. These five things are an absolute must for conquering a cold especially if you’re doing awesome things the next day.

So get out your pen and paper and write down these five things that will keep you staying cold-free all winter long.

Pineapple Juice

You can find this in the drink aisle of your local grocery store in a can. It’s by Dole and it’s 100% Pineapple juice which is what you want. It helps to alleviate that itchy feeling in your throat right before you get a cold.

Drink Tea

I drink a chamomile tea (the name for the tea is here) both morning and night and I️ found it to help drain my sinus. It’s also suppose to help soothe your body for a better nights sleep and with digestion as well.

Vick’s Vapor Rub

This stuff is my absolute favorite thing in the world! I remember when my mom would put this under my nose right before I went to bed when I was younger and I still do it now when I’m congested. After a few minutes it helps me breathe again and also drains my sinuses. You can also try the trick of rubbing the vapor rub on your feet and then put on a sock.

Soup

Any kind of soup is good but I️ decided to put to use my crockpot this time since I wasn’t in the mood to cook. I found this recipe on Pinterest of the copycat version of the Olive Garden Zuppa Toscana soup. I had this recipe saved forever and I figured this was the perfect time to try it out. I didn’t have kale on hand which was a bummer but I used spinach instead and it worked out pretty well. Needless to say it came out amazing (pictured above) and you don’t even need to be sick to make it! It’s a perfect winter comfort meal.

Bubble Bath

After I came home that day I went straight to the bathroom and started up a hot steamy bath. It was Amazing and just what I needed that day. I used the Dr. Teal’s Bubble Bath with Eucalyptus and Spearmint and it smelled so therapeutic and comforting. It was like a mini spa that you definitely must do too.
